Every time I see her, I tell her she’s my guardian angel and lifesaver.
First, let me say there are so many nurses who have helped me tremendously in my two-month PPROM stay. I went into labor and had contractions that weren’t picking up on the screen and still only measuring one for dilation. Throughout the day and night, my contractions had gotten worse, but the doctors still wanted to hold off some.
Let’s fast forward to right about shift change - I was in excruciating pain. I was on a mag drip and was getting monitored, but we were still holding off. I was begging God for someone to help me; my pain was so horrible. Shift change finally came, just after 7 am. Sarah came in, looked at me, and said, “You’re in labor!” She knew, I didn’t have to tell her anything, she knew!
She told me to roll over because the baby’s heart rate was dropping. She also wanted to have someone check me, but they told her it would be a little while, and she said, “I’ll check her myself” because I didn’t have time to wait. She took charge, and for her I’m forever grateful. She checked me, and I was a five. Do you hear me? I was a five. Sarah came to the rescue and inserted a Foley catheter for me.
She was so understanding and listened to me about everything; she told the doctors and nurses I needed to go into the OR now because the baby was ready. Everyone listened, and they all came running in and took action. I had my son at 8:12 am. Sarah was on her shift for less than an hour and made this happen. If it wasn’t for her, I don’t know what would have happened. She saved my son’s life, and I will forever be thankful for her.
Every time I see her, I tell her she’s my guardian angel and lifesaver. Sarah deserves the highest praise! She is the best nurse around in my heart. I will tell my son when he is older all about her and how amazing she was to both of us. Sarah, you will forever be special to us! I know God placed you right there for us to help. Thank you for all you did for my baby and me.
