Sarah was nominated by the mother of a patient brought to the Emergency Department. When a parent brought her daughter into the ER for being suicidal, Sarah kept an open mind. Never once was she judgmental of the situation. She made sure the daughter was comfortable being where she was. She continuously checked on them both and informed them of tests coming back and progress being made at getting the young woman help. Sarah made sure she was comfortable by giving her a drink, food, and warm blankets. ln the early morning hours when she came to check on her, she spent time answering questions about nursing and schooling with the daughter. The patient wants to pursue an education in nursing after high school. This spoke volumes about Sarah. She encouraged the daughter to follow her dreams and not to give up on them. Anyone could tell Sarah was very compassionate about being a nurse and caring and that it wasn't just a 'job' to her. There needs to be more Sarah’s in the world!!
