I am honored to nominate Sarah Lennon from the LDRP unit for the DAISY Award in recognition of her exceptional compassion and dedication.

I gave birth to my son at Middlesex, an experience that was physically and emotionally challenging. I was induced and endured a long labor, during which nine attempts at an epidural failed, ultimately leading to a C-section.

Throughout this difficult process, Sarah remained by my side, staying well past the end of her shift to support me. She even stayed through the entire C-section and ensured I was settled back in my room before leaving. Her unwavering presence and kindness provided much-needed comfort during a time when I was terrified.

The next day, I developed a spinal headache that required a blood patch. Although I was no longer under her care, Sarah immediately checked on me when she returned to work. Aware of my anxiety after the previous night’s ordeal, she advocated for me tirelessly, ensuring I received the medication I needed to calm my nerves. She stayed with me throughout the entire procedure, demonstrating an extraordinary level of care and empathy that went far beyond her duties.

Now, as I prepare for the birth of my second child, I ran into Sarah again. Even before I shared my fears, she intuitively understood my concerns and went out of her way to rearrange her schedule so she could be present during my upcoming C-section. Her selflessness and dedication have once again brought me comfort and reassurance during a time of immense anxiety.

Sarah exemplifies what it means to be an outstanding nurse. Her compassion, advocacy, and willingness to go above and beyond for her patients have left a lasting impact on me and my family.
