She brought my husband and kids to a private room, dimmed the lights, played a fan sound on her phone, and rocked my little girl to sleep.
I was getting a hysterectomy and my husband had my 3-year-old and 4-month-old in the waiting room with him during my surgery. My husband made me aware of a situation in which I felt the nurse needed to be recognized.

While I was in surgery, our 4-month-old was crying uncontrollably. My husband could not get her to calm down. He told me he tried everything from walking and rocking to feeding her, but she would not settle. A nurse named Sarah came out to the surgical waiting room and asked to help. She held my baby and rocked her to sleep. She brought my husband and kids to a private room, dimmed the lights, played a fan sound on her phone, and rocked my little girl to sleep. She even offered to get her gas drops when the pharmacy opened.

My husband described her as an angel. She sang to our baby, rocked her, and was the only person who could get her to calm down. My husband was already stressed about having both kids in the waiting room that day, and I just know Sarah saved him. He said everyone was staring at him because she was crying so loudly. She treated my baby as if it were her own. She made sure my 3-year-old was entertained, had snacks, and juice. After my surgery, she came to my room and introduced herself and made sure to say goodbye to the kids. She wheeled me down to my car, and I cannot thank her enough for what she did that day.
