This program would not have been possible without Sarah's dedication.
Sarah took over as manager of the ICU at a difficult time. She has done more to improve the ICU in the past couple of years than anyone could have thought possible. Because of Sarah's hard work and dedication, Nampa now has a fully functioning rapid response program. Sarah knew the rapid response program would greatly improve patient outcomes throughout the hospital. The feedback from other units regarding the rapid response program has been overwhelmingly positive.
The rapid response nurses are working hard every day to monitor patients throughout the hospital. They are intervening before the patient's conditions deteriorate. The rapid response nurse is also a great resource of knowledge and expertise throughout the hospital. They spend time working with nurses throughout the hospital to improve overall patient care. This program would not have been possible without Sarah's dedication.
In addition to the rapid response program, Sarah has worked hard to get intensivist coverage 24/7 in the ICU. Currently, intensivists cover the daytime hours. Because of Sarah's hard work, the ICU will soon have an intensivist on the unit 24/7. This change will drastically improve patient care, allow the ICU to care for higher acuity patients, and increase the capacity of Saint Alphonsus's ability to care for the citizens of Idaho and eastern Oregon.
These two examples of Sarah's hard work are not her only accomplishments. They serve to show how much she cares about patient care and the satisfaction of nurses in her unit. She represents the very essence of a leader. Between her meetings and various responsibilities, she makes time for her staff. She has an open-door policy, which makes her team feel comfortable when escalating issues or asking for advice.
She is always understanding and respectful. She supports a just culture and is always looking for ways to improve processes. She will jump in whenever needed to assist with patient care. She will come into work on the floor if staffing is short. The ICU would not be where it is today without Sarah Grave.
