Sarah took time to make me feel heard, safe, and comfortable.
Sarah Eisen always treated me with compassion and kindness. After getting an NG tube, I struggled with throat pain. Sarah took care of me at night. She flushed my tube with warm water to relieve some of the pain and irritation from the tube in my throat. She usually brought my medications to my bedside and checked in at night when she noticed me awake.

I struggle with OCD, and on at least two occasions, she worked with my OCD to get me to bed. Sarah took time to make me feel heard, safe, and comfortable. I often found myself asking staff if Sarah would be working the night.

When Sarah completed rounds, she often acknowledged me instead of just walking into my room and tapping my name on an iPad. When Sarah did my EKG, she spoke to me during the process (being touched is stressful with my contamination OCD). She made the process as comfortable as could be and relieved most of my anxiety.

Sarah also knows how to gently wake someone up at night when a finger prick is necessary. I found a lot of comfort in Sarah. Her presence alone, character, and mannerisms made me feel safe during a scary situation. Sarah is an extraordinary nurse who deserves to be acknowledged. She is one-of-a-kind.

Again, Sarah upholds Ascension’s values of service and promoting an environment of belongingness. I appreciated every interaction I had with her. She was not above any tasks, from bedside nursing to helping make my bed, passing meds, flushing my toilet, and taking my weight, among many other things.
