Her presence, support, and words carried me through the most difficult moments.
I am nominating my nurse, Sarah, for the DAISY Award because she provided me with extraordinary, compassionate, and empowering care during one of the most vulnerable and life-changing moments of my life: the birth of my son, K.

When I felt completely defeated and thought I no longer had the strength to continue pushing, Sarah spoke life into me. She reminded me of my strength and helped me find the energy I didn’t think I had. In a small but powerful gesture, she wrote an uplifting message on the cup that held my water: “You got it, mama!” That cup has become a keepsake I’ve held onto since giving birth a week ago because it reminds me of the love, encouragement, and belief Sarah poured into me.

Sarah went above and beyond her duties. She even delayed her lunch break so she could stay by my side and not miss my baby's arrival. Her presence, support, and words carried me through the most difficult moments. She treated me less like a patient and more like a friend. She shared her own story—her journey to becoming a nurse — and reminded me that even at 22, I, too, had the potential to succeed in my own dreams.

On top of all this, Sarah gave us a parting gift that I will cherish forever. She created a beautiful keepsake with my son’s footprints, printing them onto a pumpkin painting with the words: “The cutest pumpkin in the pumpkin patch.” During our stay, she lovingly called my son “Pumpkin,” a nickname that has now become a sweet memory tied to those first precious days of his life.

Sarah gave me more than excellent medical care. She gave me hope, strength, and inspiration. I will forever carry a piece of her in my heart, and I will never forget the impact she had on my birth experience.

Sarah truly embodies the spirit of the DAISY Award. She is compassionate, selfless, empowering, and deeply dedicated to her patients. She turned one of the hardest moments of my life into one of the most beautiful, and for that, I am endlessly grateful.
