We truly appreciated Sam’s consistent presence, compassion, and patience.
My mom has dementia and can be challenging when she is agitated and confused…Sam came in each night and was friendly, compassionate, and knowledgeable. From getting warm blankets to disguising meds in applesauce and pudding, she tried hard to keep my mom calm and comforted. She consistently used our names when talking with us or with my mom when she talked about us to help my mom with orientation during confused moments - and it did. She called with a morning report, which was greatly appreciated. In general, she listened well and responded quickly if she was able. Each time we needed something in the overnight shift, we saw Sam. The day shift nursing staff was nice, but we saw many different people, while I’m guessing it was related to the busier time of day, it added to the confusion. We truly appreciated Sam’s consistent presence, compassion, and patience.
