You can really tell she is compassionate about her job and that she truly cares about not only her patients but also the patients' families.
My dad and I arrived at the ER as my dad needed a blood transfusion. From the minute Samantha greeted us until we left, she always had a smile. She poked my dad to try and get an IV it wasn’t successful, and she called in a phlebotomist. That was not successful as well, so she called in a US. She knew her limits and my father’s. She was very professional, talking to her colleagues and coming up with a plan to try and get a successful line put in. She let us know about every next step, which was reassuring to the patient and me as a family member.

When the doctor came in, he said he would be doing a rectal exam. Before he began, she asked if the procedure would make me uncomfortable and if I could step out. She not only advocated for the patient but also for his family. She apologized to my father for all the pokes he had to endure to be able to get a line in. You can really tell she is compassionate about her job and that she truly cares about not only her patients but also the patients' families. Samantha’s actions helped alleviate the stress and anxiety of my father and me. My father refused to get an endoscopy done as he had one before and went into cardiac arrest. She listened to our concerns and made us feel at ease. She is an extraordinary nurse. The world is a better place because of nurses like Samantha.  She is a great example to her peers.
