Sam stepped out of her role as a diabetic nurse to support me through a mental health crisis. She offered me tea, a blanket, and a heart-to-heart conversation. She reassured me that things would be okay. Sam took me to A&E and sat with me for many hours until the mental health team saw me. If not for Sam that day, I would not be alive today. I am so grateful for her support. To go above and beyond her job, I would like to nominate Sam for a DAISY Award for her patience, understanding, and support. Nurses like Sam have had a true impact on me by their commitment to working in health care to support and protect others. Once again, I want to say a huge thank you to Sam.
