Dr. Allen shared that both he and his wife are new to the SGMC Health family and have been consistently impressed by the kindness and professionalism of our team. In fact, he noted that he has never encountered a hospital where employees routinely greet patients in the hallways, ask how they are doing, and genuinely mean it.

Earlier this year, Dr. Allen faced a serious cardiac issue that required an urgent cardiac catheterization. As both a patient and a retired physician, he understood the significance of the situation and the uncertainty that can come with it. During that experience, he was cared for by Samantha Foster, RN. Dr. Allen shared that Samantha immediately put both him and his wife at ease with her warm smile, calm demeanor, and reassuring presence. He praised her clinical skill, communication, and professionalism, noting that she kept them informed throughout an unexpected delay and made sure they were comfortable every step of the way.

What stood out most was Samantha's ability to blend exceptional nursing care with genuine compassion. Even in the midst of a stressful and serious situation, her sense of humor and caring personality helped ease his anxiety and made the experience far more manageable. Dr. Allen concluded by saying: "I worked with a great number of nurses during my career, and I am blessed to have had Samantha Foster as my nurse on that important day in my life. If I need future procedures, I hope she's working that day and that she will be my nurse again."
