It is with great enthusiasm that I nominate Samantha J. Enstad, LPN, for the DAISY Award in recognition of her exceptional dedication, compassionate care, and unwavering commitment to excellence in nursing. As a Licensed Practical Nurse in our rural family medicine clinic, Sam embodies the highest standards of the profession, serving as a provider of high-quality care, a role model for her peers, and a steadfast advocate for her patients.
Sam consistently fosters an environment of respect, kindness, and inclusion. She treats patients, families, colleagues, and community members with dignity and understanding, ensuring every interaction is marked by professionalism and compassion. She is especially dedicated to learning about and embracing diverse cultures, which allows her to provide personalized, culturally competent care to every individual she encounters. Sam goes out of her way to participate in educational opportunities to stay connected with her patients' cultural experiences. She also takes time to listen to each of her patients and encourages them to share their experiences, concerns, and goals to improve the quality of their care and clinic experience. Sam's intentionality allows our team to facilitate individualized healing care to each patient. An example of her culturally competent care is her allyship with the LGBTIA+ community. Sam is intentional about respecting all identities, relationships, and pronouns. Sam advocates for her patients and navigates complex conversations about cultural minorities, gender, and sexuality with grace, acceptance, and compassion.
Beyond her exceptional clinical skills, Sam is a leader in workflow improvement, proactively creating tools and strategies to enhance efficiency, minimize confusion, and optimize patient care. A recent example of this is the creation of a binder with visual and written directions for her provider's procedures.
