During one of the most difficult moments for our family, Nurse Sam in the ICU made a meaningful difference in my father’s care. My dad was critically ill and unable to advocate for himself. Sam quickly recognized that my father wasn’t in a state to make a decision on his own, and he stepped up – not only to provide excellent medical care, but to advocate for him when it mattered most. One moment that truly stood out was when Sam noticed a concerning change in my father’s condition. He suspected that something more was going on and pushed for my father to receive an MRI, even when it wasn’t immediately scheduled. His attentiveness and willingness to speak up on my father’s behalf led to further testing that proved to be essential. Sam treated my father with dignity and compassion, speaking to him with respect and care even when he was unresponsive. He took the time to explain everything to our family, and his calm, steady presence helped ease our anxiety. Sam went beyond his duties – he became an advocate, a caregiver, and a source of comfort. His kindness, professionalism, and empathy made a meaningful difference for both my father and our family. We are incredibly grateful for the care he provided during such a critical time.
