This surgery happened to be the toughest surgery I have ever had during the toughest time (1 year) of my life. I am from the Austin area, and came here for specialist care. I have been hospitalized 6 times in the last year… and have never been compelled to nominate a nurse, until now. Sali is an amazing nurse! When I first met her, I was instantly calmed. She carries herself with a calming and caring confidence. Her professional and personal care was unmatched! She heard any concerns I had and ensured I got my answers quickly. She advocated for me with meds and was very kind to me. She also looked out for my husband and ensured he had blankets and pillows. I also observed her reaction to her peers--- which was always respectful and polite. This healing journey was/is difficult, but she has made it peaceful, calming and has gained my trust almost immediately. I begged her to be assigned to me every night she was here! I am so grateful to have had her as my nurse and hope she receives this award! All nurses need to be like Sali! Thank you! 

P.S. All these character traits can’t be taught. I am a leader of over 550 people! I look for strong leaders who carry these traits. I can teach technical stuff all day long…. But kindness, caring, humility, connection, true passion of taking care of your responsibility, you can’t teach that; it has to come from within, and Sali has that in spades. Thank you, Sali, for being amazing and helping me heal on this journey. I will never forget you.
