She was also incredibly knowledgeable and helped explain, in extreme detail, everything that was going on and what we could expect for the day, the next few weeks, and the future.
My mom came in very, very sick. She was put on the ventilator. Sadie was absolutely amazing at not only being extremely attentive to all of my mother's care, medicines, and doctor updates, but also relaying everything to us in a way we could understand. She also called with updates daily. She also helped our family more than we can explain. She never complained nor showed worry. She helped us as much as she helped my mom.

My dad had a stroke the night before. He is an independent, active 65 y/o man who hates sitting around and having too much attention. So having a stroke was obviously a huge adjustment for him. Thankfully, his deficits were minimal, but he is still a patient in the ICU due to the TNK he received in the ER. Now, my dad can get pretty ornery and impatient, especially when he has a bunch of people telling him he can't do something. Sadie was his nurse in the ICU, and she knew exactly how to handle my dad. Her personality was a perfect fit. She put him in his place, but in a polite, fun way that made him joke back and made light of our intense, scary situation. She was also incredibly knowledgeable and helped explain, in extreme detail, everything that was going on and what we could expect for the day, the next few weeks, and the future. My sister, mother, and I can also be challenging to deal with. We like a lot of information and do not want things sugar-coated. She showed patience, understanding, and compassion towards all of us, not just my dad. I cannot express enough how impressed we all were with Sadie. This is exemplary nursing care. I am amazed. Nursing is about treating the whole patient. Mind, body, spirit. They know what they are doing, and they love their job. I haven't met nurses like these before today. I am a Nurse, so I am around plenty. These should set the example.
