Amidst the remarkable team, Ruben stood out.
For the past decade, I have experienced chronic pain that has been dismissed by nearly every medical professional. My entire perspective changed when I stepped into Ascension.
From the moment I entered the ER, I was enveloped by a level of empathy and care I had given up hope in experiencing. Every nurse, attending, resident, and everyone in between has been stellar. Amidst the remarkable team, Ruben stood out. His approach to patient care transcended the ordinary-marked by a deep understanding of not just the physical ailments, but also the emotional and mental toll chronic pain can take.
Engaging in conversations about podcasts, books, and movies…these interactions helped distract my anxious mind. He made it a point to check in, explain every step, and protocol. This really helped me to feel valued as a human. He even offered to show my mother around, which is truly a bold feat for a concerned parent! In a medical landscape, often characterized by clinical detachment. Ruben embodies compassionate care that everyone deserves. Your hospital is truly so lucky to have him and everyone else I encountered.
