September 2026 Honoree
Rosemary Walter, MSN, RN
I am proud to nominate Rosemary Walter for the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award. Rosemary began her nursing career in 1976 at Tacoma Community College, and for nearly five decades she has exemplified the best of our profession through her clinical expertise, leadership, compassion, integrity, and unwavering commitment to patients and colleagues.
Throughout her remarkable career, Rosemary has served in numerous nursing roles across a variety of settings. From inpatient care to the operating room and through multiple leadership positions, she has continually adapted, grown, and excelled. Her breadth of experience has allowed her to positively impact countless patients, families, nurses, physicians, and healthcare teams. But no matter the department or title, Rosemary has remained committed to delivering exceptional care and advancing the nursing profession.
Rosemary is widely respected for her sharp clinical judgment, intelligence, humor, and dedication to excellence. She is the nurse others turn to in difficult situations because they know her guidance is grounded in years of experience and a genuine desire to help others succeed. Her knowledge is vast, but she shares it generously, mentoring and supporting colleagues while helping develop the next generation of nurses.
One of Rosemary's most admired qualities is her authenticity. She is blunt when honesty is needed, always speaking with sincerity and a commitment to doing what is right for patients and staff. Her straightforward approach fosters trust, accountability, and professional growth. Colleagues know that when Rosemary offers advice, it comes from wisdom, experience, and care.
Equally memorable is Rosemary's sense of humor. She brings laughter and levity to challenging days, helping teams stay connected and resilient through the demands of healthcare. Her ability to balance professionalism with warmth has made her a beloved presence in every department she has served.
Perhaps most importantly, Rosemary embodies the compassionate spirit of nursing. She cares deeply for her patients and peers. She celebrates others' successes, supports them during difficult times, and consistently shows kindness in both words and actions. Her influence extends far beyond direct patient care; she has helped shape workplace cultures and strengthen teams throughout her career.
Rosemary Walter's legacy is one of excellence, service, mentorship, honesty, and compassion. Her nearly 50 years of dedication have left an enduring mark on the lives of
those she has cared for and worked alongside. She is an extraordinary nurse whose career reflects the highest ideals of the nursing profession and the values celebrated by the DAISY Foundation.
For her lifetime of outstanding contributions to nursing and her profound impact on patients, colleagues, and healthcare organizations, I wholeheartedly recommend Rosemary Walter for the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award. Her career deserves recognition and inspires all who have had the privilege of knowing and working with her.
