September 2026 Honoree
Ronald Sia, RN
I don’t often write about service, but Nurse Ron Sia is outstanding, exceptional. He’s the epitome of everything great! This is the 2nd time he has been on duty helping my 87-year-old mom. As she recovered from hip surgery, I want you to know that Ron is the kindest nurse I’ve ever met. He was patient, understanding, and unrushed with my mom, who has Parkinson’s disease.
The first night my mom was at DMH, she had a panic attack. Ron tried to console her; he even spoke on the phone to my sister. My dad ended up returning to stay the night with her. When Ron gives my mom her meds, she tries to delay. But Ron has great humor; the way he deals with her, with part humor and the other half persuasion, is charming.
Ron attended quickly and efficiently when she needed to get out of bed, change positions, or when she had a question. He always made her feel like she mattered. He must get tired, working the night shift, but he always puts the patient first. Ron has made a great difference in my mom’s life. Recovery as an 87-year-old from major hip surgery is extremely challenging, but Ron makes the process easier. If I were a patient, I’d want him as my nurse! We are blessed to know him.
