. Without hesitation, Rome went to find a spare bed, brought it to our room, and replaced the broken one before leaving for the night. That kind of dedication is more than doing a job; it is genuine care.
My husband and I met Rome Medio for the first time on my husband’s admission night. We have no prior relationship with him, so this nomination reflects our honest and genuine observations of Rome, his work performance, professionalism, ethics, and the seriousness with which he approaches the nursing profession.
Throughout our several-day stay at Cox South, we consistently witnessed his dedication to making others, his patients, their family members, and his fellow teammates feel cared for and supported.
We owned our own business for 40 years and employed numerous individuals, so our experience evaluating employees goes far beyond how we were personally treated. Even with that background, we have never had the privilege of observing someone as genuinely dedicated to helping others as Rome Medio. He was always pleasant to talk to, consistently ready to help when needed, and most importantly, always willing and able to go out of his way to assist however he could.
One moment in particular stands out. Rome came to my husband’s room after his shift had already ended. We didn’t ask for anything, and seeing his backpack made us believe he had already clocked out. Despite that, he noticed my husband’s bed was broken. The footboard would no longer extend, making sleep very uncomfortable for my tall husband. Without hesitation, Rome went to find a spare bed, brought it to our room, and replaced the broken one before leaving for the night. That kind of dedication is more than doing a job; it is genuine care.
We also spoke with several staff members who work with Rome, and every single one of them expressed how much they appreciate him, with comments such as, “We love Rome, he’s the best!”
What impressed us most was how obvious it was that he truly enjoys his work, caring for patients and collaborating with his coworkers on a daily basis. The best employees are those who positively reflect the company they represent. Rome Medio is exactly that kind of employee. He shows others that he enjoys his work, he sets an excellent example for the organization he represents, and he does so naturally.
