His words became a source of strength within our family, repeated often because we trusted his insight and care. We could feel the shift when his focus turned from saving our father’s life to comforting all of us in the midst of our sorrow.
Our father passed away while under Rodrigo’s care. We walked into the ICU expecting him to recover, but instead, we faced the devastating reality of his advanced cancer and its complications.
It was one of the most painful and heartbreaking experiences of our lives, yet through it all, Rodrigo was kind, thoughtful, and incredibly skilled. When we were doing everything in our power to help our father pull through, Rodrigo never stopped fighting alongside us. He was diligent, quick-thinking, and deeply compassionate—we could see how much he truly cared.
When the time came to transition our father to comfort care, Rodrigo guided us with patience and grace. He answered every question, no matter how difficult, and gently helped us understand the unimaginable. His words became a source of strength within our family, repeated often because we trusted his insight and care. We could feel the shift when his focus turned from saving our father’s life to comforting all of us in the midst of our sorrow.
In truth, we were probably a challenging family to care for. At any given time, 40 to 50 of us rotated in and out of the ICU. We played music, asked the same questions over and over, and had medical professionals among us who were, at times, overbearing. But if we were ever too much, Rodrigo never let it show. He remained patient, professional, and compassionate through it all.
There are a few things we know for certain about that time in the ICU: Rodrigo and his team did absolutely everything they could to save our father’s life. When he passed, he was at peace, surrounded by love, and without pain. And when we look back on that dark week of our lives, Rodrigo stands out as a bright light—a source of comfort we will never forget.
God bless you, Rodrigo.
