Robyn’s list of allocated tasks was used during this patient’s swift move to the OR and was invaluable to the staff and provider team to make sure all the needs during this case were met.
Robyn was the charge nurse on shift when our high-risk antepartum patient started to bleed heavily and needed a crash cesarean section. This patient had been on our unit for many weeks and had multiple scenarios of bleeding and then stabilizing. She was at very high risk for a maternal hemorrhage so the FMC team developed a plan for when she needed to be delivered.

Our OB hospitalist director, Dr. S, lead the charge in creating this delivery plan, however, Robyn went through and assigned each team member tasks to follow when the time came for the patient to be delivered. She did this without being prompted or asked by FMC leadership, or our hospitalist group. In such a high-risk delivery, there are many key players needed to ensure a safe and quick surgery. Robyn’s list of allocated tasks was used during this patient’s swift move to the OR and was invaluable to the staff and provider team to make sure all the needs during this case were met. She upheld patient safety by making sure this patient was cared for by all team members involved.

Robyn has been on our unit for a little over 5 years and has been well respected and loved by our entire team. She not only shows compassion and intention with our patients, but she extends that same care to her team members. Robyn is fair, level-headed, and calm during moments of chaos. Instead of trying to dominate and tell others what to do, she leads by example, always jumping in to help with coworkers' assignments when in need. It’s no secret that the last couple of years in healthcare have been exhausting for staff in the hospital, but Robyn has maintained positivity, kindness, and joy when caring for our patients. She is really outstanding and I can’t say enough how much we value her being a part of our team.
