My grandpa was in the Melrose hospital for around two weeks before being transferred to St. Cloud for further testing. While his medical journey is not over at the time of this submission, Robbie made my grandpa's life (and our lives, as family members) infinitely brighter in a time of great pain and difficulty. My grandpa is not always the easiest or more patient man, but Robbie took the time to get to know him, to listen to him, and to explain anything we had questions about.
Robbie's patience and attentiveness to my grandpa truly amazed us as family, as we know he had many other patients to see as well. Whether it was a simple pat on the shoulder to ask my grandpa how he was doing, going over the names of medications over and over again with each of the visiting family members, or fulfilling my grandpa's request for a carton of milk for the thousandth time, Robbie was right on it with a smile and a sympathetic nature. He was always assuring us he was in communication with the other staff on the floor about my grandpa's needs, and things truly did seem to run much smoother whenever he was on shift.
While my grandpa's pain and anxiety was difficult to manage, Robbie's presence in the room always brought a smile to my grandpa's face, and my parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles and we are so grateful for Robbie's assistance, attention and compassion.
