It has been several weeks since my discharge from home care and I continue to improve which reminds me that I would like to nominate the nurse I had for the DAISY Award, Rita. She was caring, friendly, and very attentive to details (i.e., medication dosages, symptoms, and side effects). She always reminded me that I could call her any time, if needed. I found that she was a great complement to the other doctors and nurses I had because she offered additional information and guidance based on what I was going through each week.

Rita engaged best practices like repeating instructions across multiple visits- the kind of info that you can forget over time. I also think her years of experience played a major role in how effective she is, not just in profession knowledge, but in her confidence, understanding, the connection she makes with patients, and how she delivers care; those softer skills that make all the different to patients like me.
