Many times, we have patients and families who are not willing to accept the diagnosis and need hospice. This is an example of where his skills come into play. This nurse often assists families with finding resolutions to those challenges through his support and education.
This nurse has been a valued and dedicated member of the Englewood Hospice Team since 2018. This nurse is always willing and wanting to support our team goals. Always takes initiative to learn new processes and tasks and is the first to render support to his colleagues and new team members. This nurse’s positive personality certainly supports why facility staff, patients and family/caregivers always request his return. As this nurse manager, I have received several phone calls from families who want this nurse to be their primary case manager. During these requests, they explain how kind, gentle, and how this nurse teaches them to manage and cope with being on hospice. Every working day, this nurse incorporates the VNA mission & values into their day. An example: a homecare manager needed an emergency visit done for a leaking catheter, and she called this nurse; without hesitation, this nurse agreed to help go see the patient. This nurse is often chosen as the nurse who is assigned to work with patients/families who need extra support or may have challenging needs or demands. Many times, we have patients and families who are not willing to accept the diagnosis and need hospice. This is an example of where his skills come into play. This nurse often assists families with finding resolutions to those challenges through his support and education. One family's wife said this nurse helped us make the best of this situation, and this nurse always made my husband smile and feel like he still mattered.

It is my honor to present this DAISY Award to Richmond Llanto.
