My father-in-law was a patient in the Bryan ICU recently and was a complicated patient, to say the least. We knew he could be a challenge for hospital staff because of his demeanor at times, but also because of his medical condition.

The family was called in on a Friday afternoon because things were not looking good. By the time I arrived, I was able to see Ricky in action with both my father-in-law and our family. His kind and compassionate care was exceptional. We knew where the evening was heading and that my father-in-law was not going to recover this time, and Ricky made sure to answer all the questions we had, while consoling us at the same time.

My father-in-law had been hospitalized many times over the previous months, and he has always had outstanding Parkview nurses. I was really able to see how much Ricky was invested in his patient and our family. Ricky's shift ended before my father-in-law passed, but Ricky made sure to hand us off to the next nurse to ensure we felt comfortable.

He did an outstanding job of caring for my father-in-law in a respectful and compassionate way, and he took excellent care of the family as well. We greatly appreciate his efforts that day and his dedication to his patients.
