Because of him, one of the hardest days of our lives is also marked by gratitude.
During one of the most terrifying moments of our lives, Rhian became our steady ground.
My son experienced accidental trauma and required emergency transport from Wahiawa to Tripler for surgery. Everything moved quickly, and fear followed us every step of the way. When we arrived, Rhian took over our care—and from that moment on, we were no longer navigating the chaos alone.
Rhian was attentive in ways that went beyond routine checks. He noticed the small things: the fear in our voices, the questions we were too overwhelmed to ask, the need for reassurance before we even realized we needed it. He was diligent and precise, ensuring nothing was missed while maintaining a calm presence that instantly brought peace to a frightening situation.
What stood out most was his compassion. Rhian treated my son not as a case, but as a child—speaking gently, explaining what was happening, and offering comfort with genuine care. He extended that same compassion to us as parents, grounding us with patience, clarity, and kindness when everything felt out of control.
Rhian was also incredibly resourceful, advocating for our needs, coordinating care seamlessly, and making sure we understood each step of the process. His professionalism was matched only by his heart.
In a moment defined by trauma and uncertainty, Rhian made us feel safe, heard, and supported. He represents the very best of nursing—skill, empathy, and unwavering dedication. Because of him, one of the hardest days of our lives is also marked by gratitude. Rhian doesn’t just do his job—he changes lives.
