Renee Ruby, RN

I am honored to nominate Renee for the DAISY Award because she truly exemplifies the art and heart of nursing. During a very vulnerable and overwhelming time in my medical journey, Renee became my steady presence and my advocate. She didn't just complete tasks; she listened. She took the time to understand my concerns, my fears, and most importantly, my wishes for my care. When I struggled to find the right words or felt too exhausted to speak up, Renee became my voice. She advocated for me with the physicians and ensured that my preferences were clearly communicated and respected. I never felt dismissed or minimized when she was involved. Instead, I felt seen, heard, and protected. That sense of safety is something I will never forget.

Beyond advocacy, Renee did an incredible job coordinating my care. She anticipated needs, followed through on details, and made sure that nothing fell through the cracks. Her clinical skill was matched by compassion and emotional intelligence. She balanced professionalism with warmth in a way that made me feel like more than just a patient; I felt like a person. Renee embodies every aspect of the art of nursing: skill, empathy, advocacy, integrity, and dedication. She made a profound difference in my life when I desperately needed someone in my corner. I will always be grateful for her presence in my care. She truly deserves the DAISY Award.
