She became almost like an extension of our family.
Our stay in the NICU was an emotional rollercoaster. Regina took a personal interest in us and went above and beyond at every turn. We are originally from Florida but were in Boston for advanced care for our newborn. Regina worked with social workers to arrange resources for us that we did not know were available. When my 3-year-old niece was unable to enter the NICU, Regina sought Child Life for ways to include her in the experience. However, it was the emotional bond she built with us that made Regina stand out. She was a firm advocate for our baby and included us in every discussion. When we weren't able to be bedside with our baby. Regina would be there to read her stories. She became almost like an extension of our family. In the end, our NICU baby passed away, and although she wasn't our nurse that day, Regina was in the room with us to hold our hands. I can't describe how much her presence meant that day and every day before that."
