I am writing to nominate Gina for the DAISY Award in recognition of the extraordinary care she provided to me during my postpartum stay. Gina was my nurse during one of the most challenging and emotional times of my life, and her compassionate support made all the difference. While I was breastfeeding, my baby suddenly had green emesis. Gina immediately recognized the seriousness of the situation and calmly notified the NICU provider. Thanks to her quick response, my baby was promptly transferred to a German NICU for further care. Being separated from my newborn was incredibly difficult, and I was overwhelmed with worry and fear. During this vulnerable time, Gina provided comfort and support that was perfectly tailored to my needs. Her presence was a source of strength, and she made sure I never felt alone in what was happening. Because of the situation, I was discharged earlier than expected to be with my baby. Despite the early discharge, Gina made sure I received all the education I needed before leaving. She went in-depth, ensuring that I wouldn’t miss any important information even in the midst of such a stressful time. Gina’s compassion, professionalism, and dedication to her patients are unmatched. I had heard about her great reputation as an excellent mother-baby nurse, and I can now personally attest to the truth of that. I am so thankful that Gina was my nurse during this difficult time—I couldn’t have asked for better care. She truly made an impact on my experience, and I will always be grateful for her support.
