She held my hand, provided me with cold rags on my head, and cried with me when it looked like interventions would need to be done.
Throughout labor, my son was being difficult and had periods where things weren’t looking the best. Rebekah “Bekah” was constantly coming into the room to help turn me, explain what was happening, and go above and beyond to get me in a better position. As a labor and delivery nurse myself I understood why she was doing the interventions but she still took the time to explain the why behind it. She treated me as she would any other patient and didn’t rely on me “already knowing these things.” By doing this, my husband and mom were also able to feel at ease and involved in the care I was receiving. During 3 long hours of pushing, she provided support and laughter, even when I didn’t feel like laughing. She held my hand, provided me with cold rags on my head, and cried with me when it looked like interventions would need to be done. Thanks to her and the rest of the delivery team, my son was born healthy and safe. What could have been a traumatic delivery felt very peaceful and calm
