March 2026 Honoree
Rebekah Chesnut, RN
I was a patient, and as I was being escorted back to the pre-operative room, Rebekah Chesnut, Phase 2, greeted me and introduced herself. Having been here before, I found much comfort in her ability to create a calming environment despite my pain. She listened attentively to my husband and me as we expressed some of our concerns.
Although I had undergone this procedure before, the fear of potential complications always lingered. In the midst of my distress, Rebekah was warm, calming, friendly, and displayed a gentle demeanor that helped me find some semblance of peace. I became extremely nauseous and overwhelmed by the medication I was given, and Rebekah immediately sprang into action and was able to provide me with some relief.
To some, this may seem like minor matters, but to the patient experiencing all of this, it is quite significant. With such a severe shortage of nurses, it is heartwarming to learn that Memorial continues to employ compassionate, intelligent, and supportive nurses who genuinely care about their patients, as exemplified by Ms. Rebekah Chesnut.
