I would like to commend Rebecca for the exceptional care, compassion, and genuine kindness she showed me during my hospitalization. During what was a very frightening and uncertain time for me, Rebecca made me feel seen, heard, and cared for—not just as a patient, but as a person. She took the time to listen to my concerns, explain things to me, and reassure me when I was anxious. Her patience and calm presence brought me comfort during a time when I truly needed it.

One moment that especially stayed with me was when Rebecca asked me about my spiritual needs and whether there was anything she could do to support me spiritually. That question meant so much to me because it showed that she understood that healing is more than just treating a physical illness. I was comforted knowing that she cared about my emotional and spiritual well-being as well. In a moment when I felt vulnerable and afraid, that simple question made me feel cared for in a completely different way.

As a nursing student myself, I pay close attention to the way nurses care for their patients, and Rebecca demonstrated the kind of nurse I hope to become. She showed me that nursing is not only about medications, assessments, and treatments—it is also about compassion, presence, listening, and recognizing the whole person. Rebecca made a difficult hospitalization feel a little less frightening. Her compassion and the genuine concern she showed for me will stay with me, and I am truly grateful that she was part of my care. She embodies the heart of nursing and is very deserving of the DAISY Award.

Thank you, Rebecca, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
