When one thinks of the UHS values of compassion, trust, respect, teamwork, and innovation, it is no surprise that Rebecca Blowers, RN, comes to mind. Rebecca is the MVP of New Horizons Outpatient, and our office—especially our MAT program would not run nearly as effectively as it does without Rebecca’s efficiency, guidance, compassion, innovation, and intuition. Working with Rebecca is an honor and a privilege.

Our patients value the care she provides greatly. She takes the time to get to know them before they come in for their monthly medication injections; she treats them like people, not just a number. She remembers their birthdays, special events in their lives, where they work, and how their children are doing. She takes extra care to try to make these painful injections as painless as possible with extra ice and time for it to numb up the area a little. She is also single-handedly coordinating with the UHS Specialty Pharmacy to deliver these numerous injections weekly, sometimes even the same day or the very next day.

She coordinates with outside Specialty Pharmacies to confirm delivery dates, then calls the patient to make sure that date works for them. She helps run provider meetings weekly by organizing the patients that we have to discuss, and then she will help keep track of all of the changes that need to happen. She also helps work the front desk and coordinate patient’s appointments and check in’s, returning phone calls, listening to messages, responding to mychart message—all with the thought of making this process as easy and peaceful for our patients. I certainly could not perform my job to the best of my abilities without Rebecca’s wonderful presence and guidance, and she should absolutely be celebrated.
