Raquel Chairez Serrano
English Translation:
My husband arrived at the hospital a week and a half ago, diagnosed with pneumonia and a pleural effusion. However, as the days went by, his fever didn't subside; instead, it fluctuated like a roller coaster. The diagnosis became uncertain, and we faced moments of great anxiety while awaiting daily results. Raquel always maintained an empathetic gaze and a kind, even loving and helpful demeanor. She was attentive to every detail; even when she wasn't the nurse assigned to us, if the doctor prescribed a new medication, I would see her paying close attention to the instructions, ready to step in if help was needed. She made me feel secure knowing my husband was in good hands, receiving excellent care and kindness. She listened to me when I was sad; rather than getting annoyed by my desperation or my near-constant calls, she responded with even greater empathy, kindness, humanity, and helpfulness.
I want this to be known because we need more women like her. Women with human warmth and a supportive presence; someone you can rely on to ease the stress, knowing she is 100% dedicated to the case and her patient.
Today, I am grateful that our paths crossed with a person and a heart like hers; she has made our time in the hospital much more bearable and less heavy.
To me, she is an angel during these moments when life feels so fragile, an emissary from God who cares for us with love and true dedication to her calling.
