1st Nomination
We arrived at the urgent care/ER on a Sunday evening. My husband had spent the last five days in a lot of pain. My husband finally decided to let me bring him in to get his head checked. When we arrived, my husband‘s pain level was at nine. My husband is not a person who gets sick, so for him to come into the ER and admit that things are not good meant that he was really hurting. As soon as we got there, Ramon's professionalism shone through. I could tell that he loved his job, and he was good at what he did.

He made sure my husband was comfortable and asked all the right questions. All of a sudden, after certain medications were administered, things got intense and really bad. My husband‘s pain became even worse. It was extremely intense. Ramon was the only Nurse available at that time, but watching him be so graceful under so much stress and an excessive amount of responsibility, with other patients needing to be tended to. He was very precise, explaining all the medications that were being given to my husband, and what was probably happening according to the doctors. He broke it down and explained it to me.

Quite frankly, at this point, I was very scared and concerned, but thanks to Ramon, I was able to calm down. He reassured me that my husband would be OK. When I get extremely scared, I start rambling. Despite all his workload, Ramon took the time to listen. I will forever be grateful.

Ramon is the friendliest RN I've met. He seemed genuinely concerned while caring for me.
