Raghad set up the rest area, accompanied my mother, sat with her, and offered her the necessary care and attention. This session became a sanctuary for my mother, offering a breath of fresh air.
My mother was hospitalized to the Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Unit at King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC). There were no words to express the exceptional care she received from the nurses throughout her stay in the unit, without exception. They went above and beyond to make her feel at ease and secure. I firmly believe that this outstanding unit has many DAISY Nurses, and the nurse Raghad, who cared for my mother, is one of them.
Raghad is an outstanding nurse; her remarkable personality shines through in her everyday work. She genuinely cares for her patients, actively listening to their concerns, fears, and hopes. Raghad’s matchless commitment and dedication to providing exceptional care to my mother was clearly evident. Her warm touch and encouraging words supported my mother to get through this challenging time. Raghad was intimately linked to my mother in an indescribable way, and she always entered the room with a smile drawn on her face.
Raghad not only fulfills her duties but also beautifies them with her closeness as if my mother has known her for years. Understanding my mother's wishes, Raghad takes action without request or inquiry.
One day, in the second week of the transplant, Raghad recognized some unusual quietness in my mother, as if deep in thought or perhaps saddened by something I, her son, couldn't bear. Raghad, on the other hand, did a great thing. She washed my mother's face while in bed, urged her to get out of bed, and waited by her side until she got her to walk outside the room. Raghad set up the rest area, accompanied my mother, sat with her, and offered her the necessary care and attention. This session became a sanctuary for my mother, offering a breath of fresh air. Even from behind the glass, she was able to view and listen to the outside world.
I realized that a compassionate nurse like Raghad deserves to be thanked. "Thank You" Raghad, for your thoughtfulness and care. You deserve the honor and distinction of being recognized as a DAISY Nurse.
