I am writing with heartfelt gratitude to nominate Nurse Radi, who serves on the 5th floor in the Critical Care Unit at Capital Regional Medical Center, for exemplary recognition. My father, Harold Rusten, was recently admitted due to severe bowel obstruction and underwent open abdominal surgery. This has been an emotionally challenging time for our family, especially for me, as a devoted daughter to my 85-year-old father.

In the midst of uncertainty and fear, I had the profound honor of encountering Nurse Radi, whose professionalism, compassion, and integrity left a lasting impression on my entire family and me.

From the first moment Nurse Radi walked into my father’s room, she exhibited not only expert medical knowledge but also genuine respect and human connection. She consistently addressed my father by name, talked to him with care and clarity each time she entered the room, and ensured we understood what medications were being administered and why. Her bedside manner was nothing short of extraordinary—gentle, attentive, and deeply respectful of the bond between my father and me. 

What moved me most was how she acknowledged that I'm a “daddy’s girl.”  She recognized my concerns without me having to explain them and treated my father as if he were her own. Nurse Radi offered reassurance through every explanation, and her presence alone brought a sense of calm to a very stormy time.  

It is not often that you meet someone who goes beyond their professional duties to truly embrace the heart of nursing. Nurse Radi is that kind of person—one who brings light, knowledge, and healing in the most personal way.

On behalf of my father and our family, I extend our deepest thanks to Nurse Radi and hope this nomination will help ensure she is honored in the way she so richly deserves.
