She had to answer questions from both the Medicine team and the family, and she was always professional.
A few weeks ago, we had a patient who deteriorated rapidly. Rachel Thompson recognized the need for a Hospice consult and did not let up on the Medicine team until they spoke with the family. She had to answer questions from both the Medicine team and the family, and she was always professional.
She exudes what it means to give selflessly every day I work with her. Our Veterans come first. Her husband is a Marine and a Veteran, and she treats every single patient as though they are family.
Rachel advocates so hard for our Veterans. Not just on that day, but every single day she works. She treats everyone —veterans, coworkers, and family members —with respect, patience, and courtesy.
Rachel is one of the humblest people I have ever met. She goes above and beyond for everyone. She is excellent, and I am honored to work with her. I am honored to know her, and I am truly honored to call her my friend.
That day, she fought so hard to get our Veteran the care he deserved. To let him go out of this life with dignity and honor. Two days later, our Veteran put his boots on the ground, one final time in heaven.
