Rachel was very professional and kind. Dealing with Ms. N. was not easy and an intense journey (trying to leave the hospital, threatening staff, screaming, and confused). It was a lot. Rachel comforted me and really held it together. She anchored me when my own partner did not recognize me. The story is a lot, but the key points are that she helped keep me calm in an extreme situation.
Thank you, Rachel!

Rachel had 2 ICU patients and had a busy assignment. Even though her hands were full, she was willing to help other colleagues with their tasks, like turning patients and helping with dressing changes. She went over and beyond by also helping 3-West by inserting a Dobhoff tube via Cortrak. Even though she was behind in her documentation that day, she was willing to help with the tasks.
She's a remarkable team player not only in the unit but also outside of her comfort zone. She also demonstrates compassionate care, attends to and listens to her patients' requests, always with a smile on her face. She is always asking her colleagues if they are okay and if they need help. She exemplifies care, compassion, courage, competence, and communication, which encompasses the nursing principles of I care for you!
