I believe Quincy went above and beyond in demonstrating both teamwork and exceptional patient care.
Quincy,

Sincerely, thank you so much for helping me with our patient today! You made such a difference in my day and in my workflow while caring for our patient.

I am a traveling X-ray technologist on contract here at BCH. I was sent to our patient's room to perform right hip and right knee X-rays for pain following a ground-level fall.

Upon arrival, Quincy was attending to our patient and informed her that I would be performing her X-rays. Generally, at this point, most nurses leave the room without asking if I need any assistance. However, Quincy was all hands on deck. He was already gloved up and ready to help me without me even having to ask.

To be honest, this was amazing.

He helped me position the X-ray plate under the patient's pelvis, assisted with positioning, and helped with everything in between. It turned out that our patient had a fractured right hip.

This required me to perform a cross-table lateral X-ray of her hip, and I didn't have any lead shielding on my portable unit to protect myself from the radiation. Radiation safety is very important to me, especially since I work with it all day.

I truly appreciated that Quincy asked whether I needed lead protection and then ran to another department to get some for me. That simple act made me feel like we were on the same team, and by helping one another, we made the experience much smoother for our patient.

I believe Quincy went above and beyond in demonstrating both teamwork and exceptional patient care.

Thank you so much!

Way to lead by example. I hope more nurses can be as helpful as you were—for X-ray staff and for our patients.
