Her ability to balance medical expertise with genuine compassion was remarkable.
I am nominating Quianna Rives for the DAISY Award to express my deepest gratitude for the exceptional care she provided to my mother while at Three Crosses Regional Hospital’s emergency room.

My 95-year-old mother was recently brought to the ER by ambulance after a fall at her memory care facility. We were concerned about possible fractures and wanted to ensure she received proper evaluation. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by Quianna’s professionalism, expertise, and compassionate care. She was already tending to my mother when I entered the room, speaking to her in a calm, reassuring manner while making sure she was as comfortable as possible.

Quianna demonstrated an impressive level of nursing knowledge throughout the night. She efficiently assessed my mother’s condition, monitored her vital signs, and carefully managed her pain, always explaining each step with clarity and confidence. Her ability to balance medical expertise with genuine compassion was remarkable. She anticipated my mother’s needs before I even had to ask and provided thoughtful recommendations on how to keep her as comfortable as possible, given her injuries. When the doctors determined that my mother had indeed suffered fractures but was not a candidate for surgery due to her age and health conditions, we began making arrangements for her transfer to a hospice facility. While we awaited transportation, Quianna continued to provide exceptional care, ensuring that my mother remained as peaceful and pain-free as possible.

Despite the demands of a busy ER, Quianna never made us feel rushed or overlooked. She seamlessly managed her other responsibilities while consistently checking on my mother, adjusting her position for comfort, and making sure I had everything I needed. Her ability to juggle multiple critical tasks while maintaining such a high standard of care was truly impressive. She answered all my questions with patience and clarity, providing explanations in a way that was both knowledgeable and comforting.

My mother passed away a day after being transferred to hospice, but I will always be grateful for the care and dignity Quianna provided during her final hours in the ER. Her dedication to her profession, her deep knowledge as a nurse, and her unwavering compassion made a profound impact on me and my family. I wanted to ensure she is recognized for the extraordinary work she does. Quianna is a true asset to the hospital and a shining example of what nursing should be.
