The team rushed to get everyone in place, and as I pushed, she reassured me, “We can do this. I will make sure he is safe if needed… I got you!”
To begin her shift, Quaniece set the tone for the day with grace and by stating her desire for advocacy! She fulfilled each request with such patience and professionalism. She went above and beyond to make sure my natural labor was a success. She exhausted every resource to try to get remote monitoring up and working. Her dedication to advocacy is admirable. What set her apart was her responsiveness during the last stages of labor. Her intuition, competence, and knowledge ensured I did not deliver uncomplicated or without a provider. I unexpectedly progressed to delivery quickly. The team rushed to get everyone in place, and as I pushed, she reassured me, “We can do this. I will make sure he is safe if needed… I got you!” This embodies the power and commitment of a nurse! The provider ended up delivering our baby, but I cannot express how grateful I was that she was ready to do what was needed!

Unfortunately, I arrived with an emergency birth complication. Nurse Quaniece was one of the nurses I encountered before my emergency C-section. With so much anxiety about what was going on, nurse Quaniece was absolutely wonderful. She was warm, very kind, and made me feel so comfortable given all that was happening. We discussed our kids and dogs, and she really helped to ease my anxiety in such a critical time. She provided such an excellent level of care during a stressful period.

We arrived at the hospital late one evening, and my wife was still in labor twelve hours later when the shift change happened. She had been having back labor and significant nerve discomfort despite the epidural. As a first-time mom, my wife was nervous about what delivery would entail. Quaniece was amazing from the moment she came into our room and introduced herself. She immediately had a calm and experienced demeanor that helped soothe us both. When it came time to push her coaching was amazing, but none of us realized how long it would take. Three hours of pushing later, we had an update from a provider that the baby was OP and stagnant. The provider offered the vacuum as an intervention to help, but if it didn’t work, then vaginal delivery would not be an option, only a C-Section. This was not intended to be anything other than informative, but admittedly, it scared us both. The thought of a C-section after that much work pushing was something we couldn’t imagine. As the providers left and the doors shut, Quaniece looked at us with such emotion and encouragement that she knew our baby would be out the way my wife wanted. For the next thirty minutes, Quaniece went into overdrive; the encouragement and love were overwhelming. In that time, she coached her through the final thirty minutes of nearly four hours of pushing, resulting in our baby crowning and being ready to be delivered! The provider team happened to be nearby in the hallway and came in after hearing our screams of encouragement and excitement that our daughter was finally going to be delivered. We both truly do not know what we would have done without Quaniece or what the outcome of the delivery would have been. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, and we will make sure our daughter knows everything you did for her!
