Nurse Princess is a new hire and started partnering with me in my clinic a couple of months ago. At the outset, I can see her competence and great skill as a pediatric nurse. She comes to work early and prepares the clinic accordingly. As part of my orientation with her, I instructed her on what to do and what to enter in the patient files to make our consultations run smoothly.

Instantly on the first week, she was able to accomplish what was instructed. This results in a fast turnover of documentation, complete paperwork, and most importantly, less waiting time for the patient. She has made my practice very efficient in that, even on our busiest days when we see almost 40 patients, all work is accomplished sufficiently in the highest quality, and on time. Of course, this relates to a very pleasant experience for our patients and ensures excellent care that Mediclinic is known for.

Her personality and approach to our patients are very pleasant. She has a ready smile for everyone and constantly updates patients on waiting times and what to expect. I appreciate that she engages the patient's parents in small talk and light conversation while they wait for my consultation (I can hear them through the door of my clinic). I can hear her playing with the kids and engaging in light banter with them and their parents while in the waiting room. This makes me less stressed and relaxed in conducting the current consultation.

What I want to avoid at all costs is to keep the next patient waiting, but unfortunately, this can't be helped sometimes. After each consultation, she guides the parents and gives them the necessary post-consultation education and directs them to the next steps (Pharmacy, billing, labs, etc). Even in challenging situations when the child is crying (due to blood extraction or swabs), she keeps her composure and maintains a calm demeanour with the patient and parents. Already, she has earned the trust and approval of even my long-time patients.

As a new member of staff, she has surprisingly blended well with all the other co-workers and shows great rapport with everyone from Reception, Pharmacy, co-nurses, other Doctors, and Staff. She is not afraid to ask questions and clarify any doubts, especially if it involves patient management and safety. She seeks to learn our system and practices them accordingly. Equally, she finds the time to share knowledge and information with her colleagues.

Overall, she is a great asset to Mediclinic. Therefore, I am enthusiastically acknowledging the great quality of work and patient care that Princess is doing. She is new to the organization, but she is showing the excellent care that we at Mediclinic are constantly aspiring for and actually working for every day.
