My son was admitted to Cook Children's Hospital and remains hospitalized at this time. Born at 29.6 weeks, he is now eight months old. Throughout his life, he has required significant medical care, and this has been the first hospital stay where I have truly felt that he was both safe and genuinely cared for.

Preslee has been his nurse for two nights this week. During this admission, we have been using his Infinity feeding pump, and I have been struggling with managing the timing and prompts. Preslee patiently walked me through helpful techniques and “tricks of the trade” that made the process much smoother and allowed me to start his feeds with confidence and ease – something that makes an enormous difference when your baby is crying, and you’re trying to get to him as quickly as possible.

In the middle of the night, she even removed his IV without waking him – something I would not have thought possible.

But what truly compelled me to walk down the hall and scan the QR code was something much deeper. In my son's entire eight months of life, I have never felt safe enough to fully place his care in someone else’s hands – until this admission.

During a severe migraine attack, Preslee not only cared for him with exceptional attentiveness, but she also supported me in a way I will never forget. She stepped in without hesitation, prepared every bottle, and brought them to me. She soothed him when he cried and allowed me the space to step out for medication. She remained calm, patient, and compassionate at every moment. She rocked him, comforted him, and showed him the same tenderness and love that I do as his mother.

My son smiles when she walks into the room. He shows no fear – only comfort and trust. Even during necessary procedures, he remains calm, clearly sensing that she is acting in his best interest. He felt safe enough to sleep through vital checks and IV care, which speaks volumes about the security and gentleness she provides.

I am profoundly grateful for the care she has given both my son and me during this stay.
