Not only is Philippe an amazing human being, but he is a wonderful caretaker.
I came into the Bon Secours ER downtown with low blood sugar. I'm a diabetic type 1 diabetic, and I just found out. I was scared and alone. I had no one to advocate for me. I came in emergent, so I needed to be put in. The team at Bon Secours ER immediately went to work on me to stabilize my blood sugar and get blood drawn to test me for what was going on.
My blood pressure was very low, and my heart rate was very low. I do not have an easy time getting needles stuck into my arm or getting blood taken, as my experience overall has been terrifying, but thankfully, Nurse Philippe made a difference in my care. He was immediately concerned for my well-being, he was kind and patient with me, he explained everything to me as he was doing it, and that helped to ease my fears as well. When I needed another IV put in my arm, he knew I was scared, but he eased me by empathizing with me. He made me comfortable; he made sure I had a blanket when I needed it.
There was nothing he would not do to make sure that I was comfortable and at ease in this facility. I have had a lot of bad experiences at ERs and hospitals. I can't say for sure that Philippe has resolved them. He showed me such genuine care that I knew that he was the perfect candidate for this award.
Not only did he show me such great care, but I also saw him interacting with other patients. There was a senior citizen who had to walk by my room. He held her and talked to her so gently and calmly as he was directing her to her room. Not only is Philippe an amazing human being, but he is a wonderful caretaker. He does an outstanding job of putting his patients’ well-being as the priority. I thank Philippe for such a great experience.
