Even when working these long days and oftentimes weeks without a break, Brian never wavered from the delivery of his patient care or contributions to team morale.
Brian exemplifies exemplary behaviors in leadership, service, a commitment to excellence, clinical skills, compassionate care, and being a positive influence on their peers and co-workers. Since Brian’s joining of our team, he has shown us these behaviors consistently. And these behaviors and characteristics were even more highlighted during the recent surge of Covid. With the challenges of Covid and staffing, Brian led the way for the department. Despite being full-time and working Monday through Friday, Brian readily made himself available to the infusion center for extended shifts and would volunteer his weekends to assist other departments, such as the Covid Infusion Center.
He was actually the first to commit to extended hours to still accommodate the approximately 100 patients the infusion center sees daily. With his steady commitment to excellence, service, and the care of our patients, many nurses followed in his lead, extending their hours as well. And even when working these long days and oftentimes weeks without a break, Brian never wavered from the delivery of his patient care or contributions to team morale.
He continued to provide excellent care to his patients, ensuring their comfort, understanding of their treatment plans, and clinical skills surrounding chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy treatments and patient management. Brian is consistently kind, takes pride in the care he provides to his patient, and is constantly requested by our patients. He continued to support his team by cross-covering, often answering others’ call lights, and beeping infusion pumps that weren’t assigned to him.
He’d go above telling the assigned RN what the need was, he took care of it on his own, and would communicate it to his colleague. And he wouldn’t communicate it with the intention of being boastful of his teamwork and taking credit for the work, but rather as his commitment to communication and streamlined patient care. Brian is an excellent nurse, not only for his patients, but also for our team.
