November 2024 Honoree
Penny Manuel, RN
I recently was in the hospital for 6 days to deliver my son. I had originally planned for a natural, unmedicated birth. My plans changed due to rising blood pressure, and I had to be induced. I ended up being in labor for over 50 hours and ultimately had to have a cesarean section. Penny was one of the many nurses I met throughout my time in the hospital, but she easily stood out. Penny has a passion for natural childbirth, and I couldn’t have been paired with a better nurse. She supported me, made me feel heard, and she was my voice when I wasn’t able to speak up for myself. She stayed after her scheduled hours to be by my side in my long labor. She exemplified altruism, integrity, and kindness. I will never forget Penny and the role she played in my birth story. She truly has a gift for what she does!
Thank you, Penny, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
