She is an asset to our community, and we would be lost without her.
Pegeen has been with the School-Based NP Program since its inception over 15 years ago. Collaborating with the school nurses in her schools, she provides acute care, wellness education, health screenings, and physicals.
Over her time, she has fostered relationships both with families and school staff. Together with the student, a plan is developed so that they can use skills to self-manage. She communicates with parents/guardians to provide a summary of care that was provided and follow up, either with her or the child’s medical home.
She will assist a family in identifying a medical home as necessary, often referring to the Community Health Centers. She is available to parents and guardians to address any concerns they have pertaining to the child’s health. Recently, a school superintendent relayed that Pegeen is an integral part of our school and family community.
She is empathetic. She ensures that students and families receive community referrals that are necessary to promote wellness and health. She is an asset to our community, and we would be lost without her.
