I believe “Pax” and our father share the same sense of humor. They were constantly bantering back and forth, helping ease his discomfort, therefore keeping his BP down.
“Above and beyond” her duties as a nurse. Thank you, “Pax”. Our 87-year-old father was transported by ambulance to Eau Claire Marshfield Hospital with congestive heart failure. I, living four hours away, got to the hospital prior to the ambulance.

The nursing staff on the 4th floor-AAU were remarkable. They showed me to the room he would be in and made me very comfortable while I waited the 10 minutes for his arrival. The nurses asked repeatedly if there was anything they could grab for me or do for me. Upon his arrival, they were quick to explain everything going on with Dad’s health and what the next steps would be. As I had not been with him in the prior hours in Rice Lake, this was very comforting.

As all the nurses were very attentive, one in particular stood out for our dad. Paxtyn bonded immediately with Dad. She made him very comfortable and thoroughly explained everything to him and us. From Paxtyn’s first shift scheduled with us, she was no longer Paxtyn to our dad. She became “Pax”. He had given her a nickname. We appreciated her wealth of knowledge and ability to communicate the issues with us, even if it was more than once. We found her very comforting and easy to talk to. She was able to answer every question we had in detail with confidence. I believe “Pax” and our father share the same sense of humor. They were constantly bantering back and forth, helping ease his discomfort, therefore keeping his BP down.

As we were getting ready to leave, Paxtyn went through every detail of his home care. Having him show her he could do it himself. She definitely went above and beyond. She is a very skilled, compassionate, and caring nurse.
