Paula has worked at Toronto Rehabilitation Institute UHN for over twenty years. Paula was first an RPN, then she upgraded to an RN, and continued to go on to become a Scholar coach and a unit committee member. She has also been a preceptor for students and new hires over the years.

Paula uses her knowledge, skills, and expertise to make patients and families feel valued and important. She treats patients with dignity, respect, and compassion, making them feel comfortable, confident, and valued. Paula demonstrates these qualities to whomever she trains so that there is consistency in patient care.

Paula always shows empathy and compassion when caring for patients and their families. She prioritizes her work assignments, and sometimes, when some families are not able to visit, she does little things that make a big difference for the patients, such as a phone call to the family or taking patients out to the garden during her break time.

Paula involves patients and families in care decisions. Paula has attended many family meetings and team meetings and contributes to many care plans. She always advocates for each patient and their family and ensures that each patient's care plan is reasonable and safe, resulting in the best outcome for the patient.

Paula continues to exemplify excellence in patient care and compassion through advocating for patient safety and well-being and encouraging team spirit.

Thank you, Paula, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
